Master Key week 13.2 – Hiking Christmas

Hi there

Just a quick message from my christmas hike this year, back in Sweden I was actually pleasantly surprised by the nice weather and decided to celebrate beginning of the holidays in the woods!

I hope everyone of You had an equally wonderful Christmas Eve!

I wish You all the best for the next year and a joyful completion of the holidays!

Master Key Week 11 – Spending time Off the Grid

10. The instinctive wants of the animal and the intellectual wants of Cuvier, the wants of nature and of the mind of Leverrier were alike, and thus the results; here the thoughts of an existence, there an existence. A well-defined lawful want, therefore, furnishes the reason for the more complex operations of nature.
11. Having recorded correctly the answers furnished by nature and stretched our senses with the growing science over her surface; having joined hands with the levers that move the earth; we become conscious of such a close, varied and deep contact with the world without, that our wants and purposes become no less identified with the harmonious operations of this vast organization, than the life, liberty, and happiness of the citizen is identified with the existence of his government.
Charles Haanel, “The Master Key System”, Part XI

Reading this chapter again for the second year in a row I made a connection to a scene from “What the Bl**p do we know?” I recently revisited:

Could it really be that simple?

Consciously choosing to give our attention to the life we want to create and insisting on achieving the outcome brings that dream of ours into reality instead of any of all the other infinite possibilities.

Does it work that way with our lives as well as with the particles of quantum physics?

Well I certainly know that I get hints in that direction in my own life all the time, since I decided to write my book on hiking outside of cell and mobile internet coverage I´m put into those scenarios all the time.

Right now I´m in Basel, Switzerland, visiting my brother and his family and asking what I should see on my own both him and his wife immediately recommended Rheingoldswill Wasserfallen, a recreational area just 30 minutes from central Basel.

I ended up spending almost six hours there, hiking over four of them and most of that time being off the grid – amazing!

Had a nice SIT and opened my eyes to this view:

Watched out over this valley during my second read of the day:

2015-12-08 14.08.12

And, the area proving to be pretty quite this time of the year, I spent enough time in silence and solitude to create a detailed plan of action for the next 5 months including things I can do to prepare for my 90-day-run early 2016!

Summing it up time spent in nature and silence has proved very well invested for me and I´m so grateful for having the opportunity to enjoy it often!

Start of an adventure

The first time I went mountain hiking in the summer of 1990 I fell thoroughly in love with the experience and have only missed two years since the. All the other summers I´ve been hiking for anything from one to 2.5 weeks covering a total of well over 3500 miles over the years.
While totally enjoying the experience and always coming back in a calmer and more connected state I still never managed to do a really long hike due to real or perceived obligations back home – until now…
My wife, the Marvelous Maria, has joined me the last two years for a week each and last year she asked me if we could do a month next time and, needless to say I wasn´t hard to talk into that 😉

During the Master Key Experience we´re encouraged to question our old thoughts and believes, observe how they influence are habitual actions and decide if we want to change anything (and most of us do…).
One thing I found was that for years I had nourished the dream of staying in the wild for a month and let myself be held back from it out of fear.

  • Fear of losing clients/customers by not being present in the office for that long.
  • Fear of the impact it would have on my income.
  • Fear of what others would think and/or say.
  • Fear of not ”making it”.
  • And probably then some 😉

Anyway, Maria and I both found that going on the endeavor together, leaving civilization behind for some weeks and experience being completely of the grid for some length of time is a lot more important to us than giving in to our fears and there we are…

Tonight we leave on a train for Riksgränsen, a small village on the Swedish/Norwegian border, and after lunch tomorrow we start our hike and stay out in the wild until August 28th when we plan to end the hike in Abisko, going back to Stockholm the day after!

So I apologize for not being able to respond to comments during these weeks and I promise to get back to You asap when back online if You´d chose to leave one!

Nature is a great source of energy for every one of us, though most people in the modern world don´t get in touch that much any more.
I´d like to end this post by encouraging You to spend some time in or near nature on a regular basis if You don´t already do. It´s soothing for the soul, healing for the spirit and strengthens the body – please check out the short video and tell me what You think!

Mahalo for visiting and reading this post, please comment below if You got some thoughts to share, I appreciate You!
